WELCOME AND UPDATE

Welcome to the DeWitt Carter Public School Website. We hope this website will further strengthen the connection between school, home, and our community. DeWitt Carter Public School is located on Fares Street in Port Colborne. We are the only public school located on the East Side of the Welland Canal. DeWitt Carter is currently home to over 260 students from junior Kindergarten to Grade eight. Single Use Plastics Student Writing (see links below)

In the past several months, intermediate students have learned about cells as the building blocks of life and they understand how their organ systems work. Earlier in the year, they learned about the impact of the different types of contamination in our water systems. Recently, they read an article originally published in The Toronto Star newspaper about the impact of nanoplastics in bottled water. Following that, they connected all these ideas and their understanding of how to write an effective editorial to communicate their opinions about whether single-use plastics are safe for elementary students. In these two editorials, Makenna Rogers (grade 7) and Taylor Lee (grade 8) want to convince you that single use plastic bottles are not safe.
